As I am sure you'll agree, our God-given role as apologists for historic Christianity is more important today than ever before. New and bizarre teachings are sprouting up within the church like mushrooms after a rainstorm. And from without, there are more attacks on our faith from New Age mystics, God-denying, secular humanists, and neo-pagan faddists. The result? Many mixed-up minds. Countless, searching people desperate for answers to their questions about God, Christianity, and the Bible. This confusion and desperation are captured in a letter I received last year. Here's part of what that letter said:

"I need your help! . . . I am having a most hellish struggle to find the truth. What is the truth about the God of the Bible, the book called the Bible, the person called Jesus, and the belief called Christianity? Does the God of the Bible really exist? If so, how may I know? . . . Does the person called Jesus really exist? I want to know the truth . . . I am disappointed with people witnessing to me who do not give me clear, logical, decent explanations for what they claim."

I was pleased to share solid, biblical answers with this person. It is encouraging to know that you and I have a reasonable faith that can satisfy both the searching mind and the longing heart, isn't it?
